The current concern that private ramp and jetty owners have is the question of responsibility or liability should someone slip or injure themselves on a slippery or poorly maintained ramp or jetty. Because of the relatively shallow, warm waters around the Gold Coast / Brisbane waterways, bays and islands, marine growth – especially algae – tends to flourish, making surfaces very slippery. Regular cleaning is required to ensure safety.
Currently MMS cleans 40 boat ramp sites that are owned by Gold Coast City Council.
